Rights Stuff MD Wendy Bernfeld presents a lecture outlining latest new developments and opportunities in the digital sphere, (affecting production, distribution) including new players/platforms as well as highlighting various new alternative funding sources/approaches for filmmakers. Her talk is set squarely in the digital media/VOD context of blurring devices, windows, and business models, including cross-platform/transmedia approaches as well as traditional. She further highlights recent angles of social media/audience building to assist with business impact on distribution, and also addresses the somewhat in-flux and sometimes inconsistent roles of various middlemen (distributors, sales agents, aggregators,) and DIY approaches, including hybrid distribution. Overall the theme is to help address the challenges and opportunities of balancing traditional with new media in order to maximize audiences and revenues pragmatically.
