Wendy Bernfeld, MD of Rights Stuff (Amsterdam), along with associate Dan Boehnk (NYC office), present at Europa Distribution's workshop entitled "Legal Issues in the Digital Age", held during the San Sebastian Film Festival. Wendy speaks about the digital era world of licensing and alternative funding opportunities for filmmakers/sales agents/distributors, including VOD and broader digital sector, both from the viewpoints of (i) selling existing programming to expanded new sources/windows, and (ii) new original production (2nd screen/apps, webisodes/cross platform/transmedia) angles. <--break->She details various business and rights models including TVOD, SVOD, AdVOD, DTO, UltraVOD, catchup etc along with business affairs/ legal/rights aspects when dealmaking across multiple screens, including 2nd screen programming and apps. Dan's talk follows, delving further into the legal/contract matters of licensing, with an emphasis on materials, tech, DRM, security, ''cloud'', and content protection.
Later in the afternoon they each host intensive round table interactive discussions and Q&A with the participants.
